Chelsea
Hi! My name is Chelsea and, alas, I’m now too old to go to A3 next year! Boo-hoo! I’m currently a junior at Thurston High School and really involved in the Thurston High School Theatre Department. But, I can share with you a little about myself. I think A3 would have been a great school for me and I know I would have fit in really well.
I like to listen to music and analyze and critique it. I like to find the meanings behind the lyrics and analyze the writing, the beat, the voices, etc. What mood it brings up in me is very important too, music is a very powerful thing.
I just completed Thurston High’s production of 1984 and I’m currently in the production Much Ado About Nothing in my acting ensemble class. I had a main role in 1984 and I have a cameo in Much Ado… Both productions are great to be in and have furthered my acting skills. In Much Ado, I’m learning a lot about Shakespeare and how to act it and understand it. In 1984, it was fun because I had read the book and loved it, and it was great to perform it on stage.
I am currently the House Manager at Thurston High. I work with the Business Manager and we print tickets for the shows, publicize our events, organize and manage the depatment, recruit help for the shows, and keep our lobby and auditorium in order and good condition. Also, as a tech at Thurston, I volunteer to help at events that do not necessarily involve our Theatre Department, but happen in our auditorium.
To prepare for the spring musical, I plan on taking singing classes and lessons. I have taken lessons before and was in a musical.
I have participated in beach cleanups at the coast, earth day projects, and I have volunteered at Thurston Middle as a high school counselor at their Outdoor School events and 8th grade retreats. In the coming year, I will help with garden cleanups, organize and perform elementry school day care, and other various community service projects.
