Grades 11/12

This curriculum is still under development, but some ideas we’re looking at:

Humanities II would be a philosophical examination of the value of human life. Students raise the same questions in two separate units focused on two separate contexts. Students may look at the value of human life through American philosophical values during the Civil Rights Movement; through a comparative study of Eastern and Western philosophies; through “Hamlet” and “Romeo and Juliet;” or through the Classical Greek philosophers. The second year of Humanities II would provide students a critical frame for evaluating art and for understanding how art is evaluated. Students ask, “What is art?” “What is beautiful?” “What is valuable?” and “Who decides?” while exploring the construction of eras of art, such as the Post-modern or Classical era.

As well, students will study materials commonly associated with the Advanced Placement Literature class - though we won’t call the class AP Lit, students will be prepared to take the AP Lit test for college credit.

As for Math & Science, the goal in both disciplines is to ensure that student get the amount they need to enter a four-year college.
